Many Casting Directors now want to see a glimpse of the actor at work. They want to see how the actor speaks, moves, their mannerism, confidence etc. Can the actor keep the audience interested in what he/she is saying or is the audience so bored out of their minds that they and can't wait for the actor to get on out of there?

All these are factors that prompted many acting studios to introduce The Actor Slate. The Actor Slate is a short video taping of the actor saying (slating) their name and telling the assumed audience a little about themselves.
